Located next to Sensō-ji, Asakusa Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine built in the Edo period. It enshrines the three founders of Sensō-ji and is commonly called "Sanja-sama" (Three Shrine Lords). It is famous for the Sanja Matsuri Festival held every May, offering visitors a chance to experience Tokyo’s Shitamachi (old downtown) culture and spirituality.
